Celebrating Educators
At the JCCASAC Conference, we honor outstanding alternative education teachers from county offices of education across California. Each county office of education (COE) nominates one eligible teacher from a court, community, or alternative education school for the Teacher of the Year (TOY). All nominees must meet certain criteria. The JCCASAC board reviews applicants and selects the winner.
Nominating a Teacher
-
A COE may nominate one court, community, or alternative education school teacher.
-
A nominee must meet the qualifications.
-
Nominations must be submitted by March 12, 2027.
Nominees & Winner
-
The TOY nominees and winner will be honored at the Annual Conference being held May 18-20 at Renaissance Esmeralda Resort & Spa in Indian Wells.
-
All TOY Nominees are expected to attend the event to be recognized.

Rooted in Resilience, Growing Futures
Twice a year, the JCCASAC offers scholarships to court and community school graduates who will be attending college or have passed the GED within the 2026-2027 school year.
The scholarship is intended to pay for tuition and/or books up to $500. Two scholarships are awarded in the southern section and two in the northern section each January and June. Each county may submit two applications per semester (for a total of four in a year).
